Overview
BioLert aims to develop, produce and market the EpiLert - an Epilepsy Alert and Treatment Aid system for home care as well as for hospitals and institutions. The company´s vision is based on strong relations with patients and their families and a deep understanding of these communities needs.

The Epilert is designed to respond to the requirements of epilepsy patients, their caregivers and families. This reliable epilepsy alert system improves the quality of patient care and reduces the anxiety of parents and caregivers knowing they will get an alert as soon as an attack begins.

Prolonged seizures must be terminated in order to prevent the possibility of brain damage or even death. EpiLert also aids in the monitoring and treatment of patients by providing recordings of epileptic events and seizures data.

Epilert is designed with advanced state of the art technologies for the detection and processing of Epilepsy seizures and the transmission of an alarm to parents, caregivers or medical control centers. Epilert is designed to be very reliable with near-zero False Alarms and zero Misses. It will have an FDA certification (through the 510(K) route), and an EC Directive 93/42/EEC certification.

EpiLert consists of a hand (or foot) worn watch-like Sensor Unit, which detects and processes the specific vibrations of epileptic seizures and transmits an alarm to an Alert Unit with the parents, caregivers, or at medical control centers etc. Using existing communication infrastructures (such as telephone lines), the Alert Unit will also deliver an alarm to destinations beyond the boundaries of the house.

Follow up models will enable patient´s outdoor mobility. Utilizing cellphone and GPS infrastructure networks will enable the sending of an alert and location data to caregivers or medical emergency services in order to provide help. In the future it is foreseen that Epilert will also control the application of a medical injection to stop the seizure.
